We publish plain-English education about mental health treatment for people making difficult decisions. This page explains how that content is produced and how to challenge it.

How we source content

We prefer federal and professional sources: SAMHSA, NIMH, CDC, the Joint Commission, CARF, and peer-reviewed literature.
State and county information is sourced from New Jersey government and county pages wherever possible.
We link out to primary sources so readers can check our work rather than take our word for it.
We avoid statistics we cannot trace to a named, dated source.

What we do not do

We do not diagnose, recommend treatment, or tell readers which level of care they need.
We do not publish claims about outcomes, success rates, or guarantees for any provider.
We do not accept advertising from other treatment providers. Emerald Wellness and South Jersey Recovery Program are featured because they are affiliated with our publisher.
We do not use fabricated author credentials or invented clinical reviewers.

Affiliated sites

This site is part of a small family of educational sites built by the same team, covering adjacent topics: intensive outpatient care, perinatal mental health, substance use treatment, telehealth, and ketamine therapy. When we link to one of them, it is because that page answers a question this site does not cover in depth, and those sites are published by the same team. This site is published by ZSKFL Management, an affiliate of DetoxNJ.com. DetoxNJ.com is published by Periscope Behavioral Health, which operates Emerald Wellness, an outpatient mental health center in Kendall Park, NJ. Emerald Wellness and South Jersey Recovery Program, both operated by Periscope Behavioral Health, are the only treatment providers this site features, and their affiliation with our publisher is disclosed wherever they appear.

Review and updates

Pages carry a published or last-reviewed date. Crisis phone numbers and local listings are re-checked on a recurring basis because they change most often.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it. Substantive corrections are made in place and the review date is updated.
