Editorial policy

We publish plain-English education about mental health treatment for people making difficult decisions. This page explains how that content is produced and how to challenge it.

How we source content

We prefer federal and professional sources: SAMHSA, NIMH, CDC, the Joint Commission, CARF, and peer-reviewed literature.
State and county information is sourced from New Jersey government and county pages wherever possible.
We link out to primary sources so readers can check our work rather than take our word for it.
We avoid statistics we cannot trace to a named, dated source.

What we do not do

We do not diagnose, recommend treatment, or tell readers which level of care they need.
We do not publish claims about outcomes, success rates, or guarantees for any provider.
We do not accept payment to include, exclude, or position editorial content.
We do not use fabricated author credentials or invented clinical reviewers.

Review and updates

Pages carry a published or last-reviewed date. Crisis phone numbers and local listings are re-checked on a recurring basis because they change most often, and any item we could not confirm is labeled as needing verification instead of being presented as fact.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it. Substantive corrections are made in place and the review date is updated.
